Grand Theft Metal Scrap

Let me tell you in the beginning itself that it is not a commercial advertisement to promote robbery or encourage metal theft. I am using this space to create awareness about the metal thefts that going on in a very high pace. Ok lemme start. Once there was a surprise in the city. One day all the manhole covers in the city suddenly disappeared. Everyone was wondering where those covers have gone. Some people were even thinking that this was the activity of some kind of ghost roaming around the city. Funny! I don't think ghosts roam around the city in search of mere manholes covers! Do you? Days after this incident it was reported in a newspaper that some culprits were busted while trying to steal the manhole covers. They were not ghosts anyway! “Thank God”. The fact is that, each manhole cover fetches about 20 dollars in the scrap market.

The demand of metals has increased the prices to the peak. This has driven the metal thieves target areas like junk yards and even homes. Copper and aluminium attract thieves more. It seems like they have some magnetic properties towards the thieves. There is nothing to wonder if you notice that the engine of your car is suddenly missing when you try to start it to get to office. Your car's engine would have been converted into sheets of aluminium by the time you figure out that it has been stolen. There was funny case once, where a man got his aluminium ladder stolen while he was working on the roof. Poor guy had to spend his day alone on the roof. What I supposed to tell you is that, everything that can be moved will be stolen. If your house is made of steel, then you are gone, you will become homeless in just few years; just kidding!

The one who is called the thief is not the only one who steals it, but also the one who holds the ladder for him to climb up. Even those who buy the stolen scrap metal from the metal thieves are subjected to punishments as they are also involved in the robbery. Scrap dealers are required to collect more information from the sellers before paying for the metals and getting them. And the important thing is that they must pay by cheque. The scrap recyclers should report the theft through magazines or some other media to protect themselves from materials being stolen and to protect themselves from buying the stolen material.

We have heard that opportunities make a thief. By reading this passage, is anyone planning to enter the field of scrap robbery? If anyone thinks metal theft is easy and can remain un-noticed, they are absolutely; I repeat “absolutely” wrong. The cops have been alerted and anyone who commits a metal theft won't escape from walls of law. Even scrap dealers should stay alert so that they don't take in stolen goods and get punished as same as the robber. We are extremely sorry that we couldn't show up the list of punishments that a metal thief can get because “The story of crime and punishment is not to be told in short sentences.” Anyway in short, “Grand theft scrap metal, Grand welcome to prison”.
